The day started so foggy that we were delayed approximately 20 minutes, and a large crowd of tourist golfers in front of us took their time getting started in among the mists. However, after a few holes, the mists lifted and the pace improved, and the sun came out quite hot.
The course is looking a bit ragged, with wet conditions killing grass in the green surrounds, on tee boxes, and on the greens. It is not yet in a parlous state, but there is sure to be a frantic round (or rounds) of aeration, sanding, and other over-the-top course maintenance on the horizon. For now, it didn’t play too bad.
We had eight participants: seven members (Jim, 5Points, John P, Bruce G, Egbert, Andrew, and Marc) and one Friend, retired PGA teaching pro Doc. Doc did not participate in the skins. We played our normal skins game from the blue tees.
The par-3 closest-to-the-pin prizes were well dispersed, with Egbert taking Hole #3, John P taking Hole #7 (birdie), Bruce G closest on Hole #12, and 5Points hitting it to 1 foot on Hole #17 for a tap-in birdie.
5Points was on fire today, scoring 42 Stableford points to take the top spot and winning 11.5 skins to win the most money for a profit of 555 baht. John P scored 37 Stableford points to take the runner-up spot, and also gathered 4 skins to win 30 baht. Everyone else was a net donator.
